We had a patient who was just recently diagnosed with lung cancer. The patient had undergone his first chemo and radiation treatment and then became septic. He was her patient on the day he was admitted and for subsequent days. Amanda took extra time with the family so they could understand why he was getting so sick rapidly.
The patient was intubated and was eventually put on CRRT. She was there for his wife and sisters, communicating the needs and concerns that they had. The wife pulled me aside to tell me how wonderful Amanda and all of the nurses had been. She felt he would not be alive if it had not been for the exceptional care he had received.
Amanda takes extra time with all of her patients to ensure every need for every patient is addressed. She truly is a wonderful, compassionate, caring nurse.
