Amanda is a lovely person- inside and out. She is kind and helpful and fun.
My 8-year-old daughter was inpatient for her 8th round of treatment. Generally, it’s difficult to get my daughter to eat anything during treatment but she was feeling well and specifically wanted sour cream and onion chips. Amanda was on the hunt for these chips! She called the Subway in the hospital to see if they had them. She checked the parent lounge. She checked the hospital snacks. She definitely went above and beyond for my daughter!
Amanda was our nurse for 3 days. She made sure my daughter was always comfortable and made sure she got her meds on time. She was patient with her and cheered her on when taking them and helped me speak with nurses regarding health concerns.
Amanda also took care of me! She chatted a LOT with me and made sure all my needs were met as well. Amanda is a lovely person- inside and out. She is kind and helpful and fun. She went above and beyond to give us the best care possible! She absolutely is a DAISY Nurse. She made our stay more enjoyable. Children’s Mercy is very lucky to have her and by extension, we are lucky to have Amanda caring for our daughter.

Amanda took care of an end-of-life patient. All he wanted to do was get out of the room. He was not stable enough to walk, or even to ride in a wheelchair. Amanda organized for him to ride in his bed from 4 Henson to the research building so he would be able to look out at the Kansas City skyline and see something new. It was a beautiful moment that meant so much to the patient’s mom and family.
