I am a very, very heavy patient and it can be very difficult to tend to my medical needs. However, Amara did not just tend to all my medical needs, she offered the most tender and sympathetic treatment I have ever received as a patient at any hospital.

I've had nurses treat me as a burden. I've had nurses treat me like a fat person not deserving of their respect, and I've had nurses neglect me entirely. Amara made me feel human, like I was worthy of compassionate care.

Amara stayed with me when she could to help manage pain or just to keep my spirits up.  My situation was quite dire at one point, but while everyone else walked away, Amara stuck around and did her job.

After my subsequent surgery, Amara apparently stuck around to make sure I pulled through and even took a picture with my father and son and me. It was an act of kindness I never would have known about had she not done it. She even stopped by today, now that I've woken up, just to check on me and make sure I was okay. That's going the extra mile if you ask me.
