He loved talking with her and hearing about her weekends and her cat and dog. It was as if he was living a younger life through her experiences, and she was so gracious to sit and talk with him.
I would like to nominate Amber Jackson, RN for the DAISY Award. As a background, my husband, was diagnosed with Failure To Thrive in November 2023 and was hospitalized at a hospital in Richmond in February 2024 for two weeks for treatment and a PICC was placed so he could start receiving TPN. Neither one of us was versed in this type of procedure and, frankly, scared to death to leave the hospital.
Upon our arrival home, we managed to get through the first night, and the following morning, we received a call from Nurse Amber, our assigned Home Health Nurse. Nurse Amber is the consummate professional blessed with a lovely smile, willingness to help, and an innate ability to help and teach novice caretakers how to administer health needs to loved ones, and a pleasure to work and be associated with. She took care of my husband on a weekly basis from March to the end of September with enthusiasm and love. He looked forward to her weekly Monday visits and was always in a better mood after he heard what time she was coming. He trusted her, thoroughly enjoyed her visits, never complained, and when she left, he always had a smile on his face. He loved talking with her and hearing about her weekends and her cat and dog. She, in our opinion, was more than a weekly visiting health nurse.....she is a loving individual and a friend and is highly respected and a credit to her profession. This world - especially Middlesex County- is a much better place because of her, and we feel we were blessed by an angel named Amber. We greatly appreciate all the support we received from Riverside Walter Reed Home Care and the excellent doctors and nurses who took care of G in the past two years. We feel indeed so very fortunate to have had Amber as our visiting Health Nurse and feel she deserves recognition for not only doing her job but also doing it with dedication, attention to detail, and an attitude of pride and utmost competence.
