Ms. Amirah came past my room, and she saw that I was crying. She sat beside me, held my hand, and spoke kind, comforting words from the Quran.
First of all, I want to extend my thanks to the entire emergency department. They are a great team, and everyone there treated me with respect and care. One nurse who stood out was Ms Amirah; her smile and positive words comforted me when I felt low about my situation. I felt I was bothering the nurses when I continually called the call bell to ask for medication, but they all came to the door with a smile to help me; I felt embarrassed that they saw me cry many times. On my last day, I felt very anxious to go home in case the pain came again, Ms. Amirah came past my room, and she saw that I was crying. She sat beside me, held my hand, and spoke kind, comforting words from the Quran. She reassured me that my behavior and anxiety were normal and to not be ashamed, and I could come back if I had the same symptoms or felt sick. May Allah bless her, for she made me feel human at that moment and not like a burden. She changed how I look at hospitals, at nurses, and at managers.
