She teaches students with such encouragement and passion, and it is apparent in the way that students talk so highly of her. It is also so apparent that she has found her calling in nursing.
Christian Principles: Mrs. Dodds acts with grace, patience, and kindness in every interaction with others. She models Christ in the way she talks about and models patient care. She has a warm, welcoming, and Christlike attitude toward each student that comes in.

Role Model: I love coming into the lab when Mrs. Dodds is there because I know that she will help me to perform the skill safely and correctly as well as encourage me. I have asked lots of "dumb questions" or made little mistakes during my time in lab, but Mrs. Dodds always turned those into learning opportunities. She teaches students with such encouragement and passion, and it is apparent in the way that students talk so highly of her. It is also so apparent that she has found her calling in nursing. Based on the way that she treats others at UMHB, I can only imagine how blessed her patients are.

Core Values: There is something so beautiful about feeling seen by others, and Mrs. Dodds has a unique way of making others feel seen and loved. She remembers students by name and makes them feel at ease. I love that she attends on campus events like play day as it is always such a joy to see her. She upholds the Cru Nursing Core Values in and outside of the classroom.

Why Thankful: I am thankful to Mrs. Dodds for being an example of not just for the kind of nurse I would like to be, but the kind of woman I would like to be. Watching her interact with others reminds me of the beautiful calling that is nursing. She is someone I look up to as a woman who models Christ in every part of their life. When I failed my second skill in Intro, she was so encouraging towards me about remediation. Even though I was sad about failing, she helped me to see it as a learning opportunity. This experience and several other times with Mrs. Dodds teaching have shaped my outlook on learning. I am thankful to her for making me feel seen and loved the way that Christ does.
