She has shown to be a kind and considerate manager who listens to the concerns of her nurses and is calm and steadfast in uncertainty. I appreciate that she is quick to recognize the accomplishments of staff and slow to criticize without appropriate facts. She is a good problem solver with great critical thinking skills.
This ANM of CSO ED is an extraordinary nursing leader who truly exemplifies the definition of a DAISY Nurse Leader. She has been a part of Children's for 25 years but came to CSO 2 years ago as an ANM. During unprecedented times, she has created a culture of trust and respect in our department. She put the wind back in our sails and put people first. She is a role model to many with her empathetic ear, always checking in on her staff and maybe even bringing us some vegetables from her garden. She advocates for her staff, whether it was to get creative and find places for us to be cross-trained to get hours for us when there were none, to help staff navigate the FMLA worlds when loved ones were sick or going through difficult pregnancies and loss. It is not a surprise then that when the DAISY Nurse Leader nominations opened up on Careforce that we all thought of this nurse leader and began discussing a group nomination on Group Me. We are happy to collectively nominate her!
Below are some testimonials from various CSO RNs and I'm sure you will see why this nurse leader is truly deserving of this award: She takes the time for her people, and if she doesn't have time, she makes the time. She doesn't just listen to us, she hears us. Her words don't return void, she follows through with what she says. She checks in with us regularly to make sure everything is going well. I've had many managers, but no one quite like her. I can't think of anyone more deserving of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
This nurse leader goes out of her way to find cross-training opportunities for us to make sure that we have our hours. She exemplifies Children's "People First" dedication to employees. She somehow keeps track of what every single one of her nurses is doing across all campuses and in multiple departments. She reaches out often to ensure that we feel supported and cared for. I have never met a manager who values her nurses more than she does. She always looks out for our best interests and has always been not just a manager but also a mentor. She is a big part of why we are happy at work and at home. She takes the time to understand what we all need individually, and she helps us not only be successful at work, but at home with our families as well.
This nurse leader went above and beyond for me with my FMLA. She checked on me many times throughout my time off and was genuinely concerned. She showed great empathy and compassion, given my situation. She is an advocate for each and every one of her nurses and always strives to make sure we all feel heard.
This nurse leader is always checking in on her nurses to make sure we feel supported and are happy in our role. She provides countless opportunities to cross-train or get our hours and always takes extra time or effort to answer any question we have. She makes us feel supported, which is so important to have in a manager! She 100% deserves the DAISY Nurse Leader Award! I am so grateful to have her as our ANM. She has such a beautiful spirit and she is an extraordinary leader in our department. She cares about her staff by listening to our concerns, ensuring that we have opportunities to cross train in various departments, and shows empathy when life meets us with challenges. She is an awesome communicator and great at following through with our requests. What I love about her leadership skills is that she has a very gentle way of acknowledging our challenges and always encourages us to strive for better. If possible, she makes it her daily task to find us in various departments on a regular basis with a sweet treat basket, checking on us and always asking the question, "Do you need anything?" We know she genuinely wants to know. I really appreciate her for who she is and everything she does for the nurses in our department.
This nurse leader has always been supportive and kind. She checks in on her nurses and advocates for us. She is genuine and truly cares about her CSO team. She deserves this award! She took on this leadership role during a time of change and restructuring for CSO and she has worked exceptionally hard to support her nurses. She has hustled hard for us to get cross trained in other departments so that we can support our families and stay at Children's doing a job we find rewarding even when volumes are low. I appreciate that she is always checking on us and is realistic about expectations. She is a good communicator and a humble leader who is quick to say "let me work on this" or "let me find out and get back to you" instead of giving emotional responses. Children's is a better place to work because of her. She has done an outstanding job supporting her direct reports and advocating for us. She deserves the DAISY Nurse Leader Award!
This nurse leader is the most compassionate and hard-working manager that I have ever had. While most of the nursing management seems very far removed from their staff, she shares in our struggles and really fights to make sure we can provide for ourselves and our families as if her job was on the line, too. In a time of chaos, she has worked hard to make sure CSO nurses still had somewhere to work by making relationships with the rest of the system. I am so thankful she is my manager and cares so much about her employees. She more than deserves the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
This nurse leader is available and willing to help always. When our hours were low it was made a priority to get everyone cross trained to different areas to keep up pay and hours. She makes a point to have conversations face to face. She is responsive and timely. She is upfront and transparent. I have worked bedside with her and have seen her working on the floor several times. She is an effective leader and is a prime example of what all leadership should strive to become.
This nurse leader shows remarkable dedication to her work and her CSO staff who look up to her. She often puts in extra hours and takes on additional responsibilities to support her team. She has the kindest spirit, is loyal, and is a great listener. She goes to bat for her staff and keeps her promises. She came to CSO and fostered a positive work environment and supportive nature and willingness to help others create a productive and harmonious atmosphere. CSO has become the place to be, and we thank her for having a hand in this! We wouldn't be the team we are without her. Her love and passion for her job and CHOA are evident in how she treats her staff, and we are all most grateful!
This nurse leader is always consistent and calm with her responses! She advocates for her staff and is one of the best at keeping us updated on changes. She tries to stay ahead of issues and communicates those quickly. She is always respectful and timely.

As a group, we all want to acknowledge all the hard work and effort this nurse leader did for our department. She has made us all feel as if we mattered over this past summer. She helped find us jobs to cross-train when hours were not available in the Emergency Department. She is a compassionate and empathetic individual who truly cares about her staff and their well-being.

This nurse is an amazing leader. CSO has undergone a lot of changes recently, with a lot of flexing as well. She has championed for us all during this time. She goes out of her way to find cross-training opportunities for us and answers personal texts and lets us know of opportunities/needs in the places we are cross-trained to when we get flexed from the ED. She goes above and beyond for us which is why we have retained our staff through all of this. She shows up to the departments we are in with candy and a smile asking us if there is anything we need. I know she has so many other things she is juggling, and the fact that she takes time to do that truly upholds Children's commitment to its employees. All of us in the ED CSO pod feel the same way. She makes this a great place to work. She makes us feel valued and heard. She deserves to be recognized for going above and beyond her role for us.
