Ana Anthony, Meridian ED staff nurse, was presented a DAISY Award for the extraordinary care of a colleague's father. Her father, a retired policeman/paramedic, was brought to the ED having severe chest pain. He had been to the ED many times in his line of work, but never as a patient and not fearing for his own life. She watched the teamwork and compassion displayed by these individual nurses dealing with her father's concerns as they prepared him for an emergent Cath Lab. Although she had been in their shoes before as an RN, seeing the scene from a family point of view made her realize what a gift and blessing their excellence and compassion was to her family. Her father made a full recovery and was able to participate in the DAISY celebration.
