We felt so safe, understood, and cared for in Ana's care.
Ana is the greatest advocate a patient could ask for. We met Ana on the morning we were scheduled to be discharged but understanding that the pain from my C-section wasn't under control and with worries about our baby's recent NICU stay, she helped us navigate staying an extra night. When I was too scared to look at my C-section incision, Ana took a picture of it for me and showed me that it wasn't so bad. When the thought of getting another IV for iron which had blown my veins twice before brought me to tears, she was quick to offer several alternatives. I know she was enormously busy, but when we mentioned that we didn't get to observe our baby's bath in the NICU, she insisted that she had time to show us how. She helped us get all the supplies we might need for successful breast and bottle feeding with such speed and service -- always making us feel like a priority and never like a burden. When getting ready for discharge, she told us how confident she was that we'd be okay. She talked us through every silly question, she took so much time with us to be sure we got every answer we sought, explaining and re-explaining everything until it stuck. We felt so safe, understood, and cared for in Ana's care.

She had our backs and it is clear that her patients are her top priority. My husband and I often talk about how lucky we were to have Ana on our last couple of days in the hospital. She saw us through such a vulnerable and challenging time, and we are forever indebted.
