Andrea arrives to work every shift with a smile and ready to care for our community. She is well respected by the team for her technical skills as well as her ability to connect with our patients and visitors and promote an overall positive demeanor in the department.
Andrea recently demonstrated compassion and integrity under a difficult situation in the ED. She was the Trauma Nurse on duty when the ED received a gunshot victim and needed emergent surgery. Andrea was asked by the OR team to help manage the patient care in the OR environment as she has the technical skill to run the rapid blood infuser. Even though the main ED was still caring for patients and could have used Andrea's assistance, she stayed in the OR to support both the patient and the OR staff for over an hour.
While she was there she also helped coordinate ancillary teams to provide care for this patient as she has the knowledge and ability to be proactive with patient care. This is a true display of teamwork and sharing the common goal of achieving the best outcomes for this patient and their family.
