Andrew showed a patient's wife a great deal of compassion and went above and beyond to give her the highest quality of time with her husband on their last night together. This patient had been in and out of Shands for over a year with abdominal fistulas and was in need of a bowel transplant. The family decided to withdraw care. Andrew gave the patient a full bath and linen change then re-positioned him so that his wife could sleep in his arms for the first time in almost a year as well as for the last time. The patient's wife told us how much this opportunity meant to her and how amazing Andrew was in doing this for her. He made a permanent impact on this family.
