I am writing to nominate Dr. Andrine Coombs for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award in recognition of her exceptional contributions to 5 North and the profound impact they have made on our team and the patients we serve.
Andrine started her time her as the CM in the ED and transitioned into the role of PCD. Her leadership qualities have shone through in numerous ways. Her resilience and dedication to quality care has not gone unnoticed. The unit has had a dramatic reduction in falls, CAUTI, and CLABSI. She consistently demonstrates a commitment to excellence, compassion, and collaboration, which aligns perfectly with the values celebrated by the DAISY Award.
One of the most notable examples of Andrine 's leadership occurred during her mentorship of the new nurses. In this instance, she formed meetings where she met with the new nurses and listened to concerns and followed through. Her ability to motivate and inspire those around them was instrumental in achieving this outcome. Her ability to listen and form the relationships with the staff being consistent and fair always.
Additionally, she is a mentor to many of her colleagues, always willing to share her knowledge and provide support. She actively seek opportunities to empower others, fostering an environment of growth and development. Her dedication to teaching and guiding others exemplifies the true spirit of leadership.
She is an advocate for quality, demonstrating her commitment to improving patient care and outcomes. The team has worked tirelessly to implement CAUTI reduction, Falls, reduction, CLABSI, CDIFF and improve patient documentation.
