Angela is always high spirited and has a smile on her face. She made the patient feel value as a mother. She took the time to listen to my concerns and share the positives. 15 days of being in the NICU, and my son finally took his full feed by bottle. Angela made him a bottle trophy that we will forever keep. She understood the frustration I felt as this was our last hurdle before going home. She encouraged, praised, and included my oldest son. The patient's mother always felt encouraged, respected, and treated like a friend not a patient.

The NICU has a family lounge and some of the families of our patients struggle with drug addiction. We have seen criminal behavior (drug dealing, stealing other families' belongings) occur in our family lounge. Angela wanted our lounge to be a safe and positive environment for all families to stay in while their babies were in the NICU. She organized several events to regularly occur in the lounge in hopes that families will feel safe to spend time there. She contacted the Chaplain to start a spirituality support group, OT/PT to start a massage class, and she started a craft night so siblings will have something to do while at the hospital visiting the new baby in NICU. These changes will transform our lounge into a healthy environment thanks to Angela.
