A sick young woman was in the care of the SICU, she required CCRT, multiple blood pressure medications, and frequent cleaning and repositioning.  

Angie Hotovec cared for this gravely ill young woman.  The patient required aggressive and complicated medical care, which Angie expertly provided.  

Incredibly, Angie was able to also give her full attention and support to the patient’s family, especially her 10-year-old daughter. Angie expertly provided medical care to her patient and emotional support to her patient’s daughter.  Angie purchased and gave the little girl toys and treats and was able to engage her in activities and conversation to keep her spirits up and to help ease the little girl because she was scared and heartbroken for her mother.  

Angie took the time during her shift to comfort the family, explain everything to them, and be present for the patient’s daughter. She exemplified skills and compassionate end-of-life care for the patient and family.  She went above and beyond that day for that family.  She deserved recognition and praise.
