Although Angelica is trained for cardiology, she found herself caring for a patient from the psych floor who was experiencing chest pain upon her visit for new onset schizophrenia. While addressing her medical needs, Angelica went above and beyond to develop a bond with this patient who was hallucinating. The patient was petrified that someone was trying to kill her. She was shaking with fear. Angelica was the only nurse that she would let her near her. While taking care of four other patients during her shift, she spent countless hours in the patient's room. I am proud to work with a nurse like Angelica. Even though she had never faced a situation like this before, she still did everything she could to help the patient while taking care of the family and her other patients. I know it was a very emotional day for Angelica, but it never stopped her from smiling for the patient, staying calm for the patient, and being brave for the patient.
