Angelica demonstrates all of the qualities and characteristics of a DAISY Award recipient. She is a charge nurse on the unit I work and has been with the hospital for 10 years. She is an inspiration to all and someone I look up to personally. She is the most selfless person I have ever met and goes above and beyond her job description.

There are people who get complacent with their jobs and start to cut back on responsibilities, delegate tasks, and overlook things that need to be done. This is NOT Angelica. She has no problem diving into any role she needs to take on in order to help out the floor and put patient needs first. When she sees a need, she fills it. She is not the type of person who needs recognition for the things that she does but does them because she cares. She is an absolute angel and is clearly doing what she was meant to do. I would like her to know that she is appreciated and that her empathy and compassion mean everything to the people who work with her and the patients she cares for. We have had some hectic days with lots of discharges, admits, and surgical patients coming in and out, and I always know we are in good hands when she is around! I hope that if I ever become a nurse, I will be at least a fraction of the person she is!
