During a scary time for us Angie's competence was a welcome lighthouse.
Most all nurses have hearts of gold - Angie embodies what it is to be a caregiver. We arrived at the NICU with a 29-week delivery and complicated c-section hysterectomy combo for me. Angie wasn't even our assigned nurse the first few days but I remember seeing her in the hallway and she asked how I was doing. Not in an 'oh we made eye contact' awkward obligation way but she stopped what she was doing to hear my answer.
When she was our actual nurse she would arrive when I thought of her as if she could hear me. If we had a different nurse and she heard an alarm sounding in our room she would pop in. She is always on top of it and works with confidence. During a scary time for us her competence was a welcome lighthouse. She always fully explained the many changes we endured with kindness and expertise. She would not only take care of our baby but us as parents also. She would remind me to eat and offer to bring me a warm blanket. I had been wanting a way to recognize her for everything she's done and literally saw the DAISY Chain pamphlet on the front desk less than a day later.
