In his final minutes, Angie remained close to the family; and empathized with us.
I spent a week with my uncle at the end of his life. On his final day, Angie selflessly remained present. My uncle always had an eye for a cute girl and had a particular liking for Angie. As a police officer, I can understand how, at times, professionalism can be hard and uncomfortable. But Angie never let that get in the way of the job. She provided an unwavering, undetermined and selfless, unsurmountable level of care.

In his final minutes, Angie remained close to the family; and empathized with us. Angie needs to be recognized for her selflessness, and empathy. It is a decision to work on this floor, and provide this care at the end of life. The comfort that she brought to our family, she will remain remembered. Angie’s smile and the tears that she shed with us will always be remembered as a hallmark and staple of his final moments. She did not hesitate to offer hugs, and remorse to the family as we grieved. This, the hard job that she has chosen, and the floor, which is even harder, is one that is thankless, and she should be noticed for her grace, attitude, and empathy during the passing. She had made the choice to be a nurse and to work this unit. All of which go unnoticed and unrecognized. But, it is my hope that "the big brown-eyed girl," as he called her, gets recognition.
