Yesterday during the most recent snow storm our plans to discharge a patient to home was bumped up in the attempt to keep two geriatric people off a snowy highway. In the haste to keep patient and family safe we inadvertently failed to remove the patient's staples prior to discharge. Anita Hall noticed this oversite and called the patient's wife. Anita discussed the situation with the wife and to keep her from driving back to the hospital, Anita went to the patient's house and removed the staples. While admittedly we failed to provide for the patient at discharge, Anita's commitment to make sure the patient and family were cared for even after discharge goes above and beyond. What an excellent service recovery story.
