I would liketo nominate Anita for The DAISY Award because of her grace, kindness and her stick-to-itiveness. She was like the RN version of an Energizer Bunny. I was hospitalized after bladder surgery and had a continuous bladder infusion that needed the bag changed about every 45 minutes. I also was orderred blood, along with three other of Anita's patients. I have no idea what needs the other three patients had, but between all of us, she was run off of her feet; thus the Energizer Bunny allusion.
Everytime I saw Anita during her grueling day, she smiled and was gracious. That never changed. As the shift continued, it became apparent that Anita had more tasks than was possible to accomplish. Just having to change the continous infusion every 45 minutes or so would be daunting. My clue was that when Anita would come into the room, she would dash in, do what she needed to do, smile and ask how I was doing, and then dash back out. After a while, other Nurses ambled in to change the infusion or irrigate the catheter, but between the three of them, I still delveloped a problem with clotting in my bladder. There did not seem to be enough staff to meet the tasks of the day, but this is why I would like you to recognize Anita with a DAISY Award. She was always pleasant, and did her very best, despite a very time consuming assignment. Anita is a treasure.
