True Compassion in a Time of Need: I wanted to share this act of kindness displayed by Ann Haas so we can be aware of the people we have on our Ochsner team. On the 3rd floor, there was a visitor sitting off to the side in the waiting room in a puddle of stool. She was there to see her Mom, who was having a cath lab procedure. Unaware of the circumstances, someone mentioned this embarrassing event to Ann Haas. Without hesitation, Ann recognized the sensitivity and dignity of the situation and went to the waiting area to help. There were other families in the waiting area as well. Ann gathered cleansing wipes and additional toiletries so the visitor could clean herself. She then called down to the ED to retrieve some paper scrubs and allowed the patient to change into something fresh. The visitor and additional family were so grateful for the attention the RN gave to the visitor. This RN's dedication to care went beyond the typical expectations of her role. She taught everyone around her that compassion knows no bounds and can extend beyond the bedside. For her unwavering empathy and selfless actions, Ann is being nominated for the DAISY Award, a true embodiment of compassion in a time of need.
