I would like to nominate Ann Lakes as a deserving recipient of the DAISY Award. Ann is an experienced RN who has cared for the recovering OHS patient for many years. With restructuring of the ICU's this patient population will be in the CVICU. Ann chose to stay in the MSICU. Knowing many new nurses would be caring for this patient population, Ann offered to help with the bedside orientation. Ann has done an amazing job in orienting new staff. She frequently changes her schedule to accommodate our orientation needs. Staff frequently request having an orientation day with Ann. She takes the time to go over all the protocols and routines while also giving real life tips in caring for this patient that only an experienced RN could share. She has risen to the occasion to ensure the highest quality of care is given to our patients. She has helped the nurses, who were quite nervous at first, feel confident in caring for the open heart surgery patient. We are very grateful for Ann's selflessness in sharing her clinical expertise to ensure ongoing excellent care of the patients.
