He said she did everything she could to make him comfortable, but nothing was working, so she took it upon herself to move him completely from the bed he was in by herself.
About 3 weeks ago by father had a heart transplant. It was an exciting time for our family as we had waited over 4 years for a heart, except we did not know his recovery was going to be as difficult as it currently is going. During the time, he was still sedated, and on the breathing tube, he had two strokes, which almost immobilized his left side at the moment. From this moment, we started to notice Ann’s amazing care and compassion for my father. When he couldn’t communicate at this time, she would tell us everything that was happening and what to expect. And this has continued still to this day.
My father is now awake; however, he needs a lot of assistance still, and she is quick to assist him with his every need. The day we knew she needed recognition was when my father told us that one night, he was particularly miserable. They had changed out his bed for a new one, and he could not get comfortable on top of being freezing, etc. He said she did everything she could to make him comfortable, but nothing was working, so she took it upon herself to move him completely from the bed he was in by herself. Keep in mind he is connected to many machines still, lines, etc. so I doubt this was an easy task.
Ever since, my father raves about her and is excited to be in her care because he doesn’t worry about whether he is going to get the proper help he needs, which, as a family, gives us a huge peace of mind. We love Ann and are sad to not have her when he moves out of the ICU in a couple of days, but we are happy knowing that others will get to receive her devoted care.
