My mother-in-law passed away at home on Thursday. Prior to that, she was in and out of hospitals and nursing homes for most of the year. From July until her passing, Mom was in Medina Hospital more than in the nursing home. All of the nurses were great at Medina Hospital but Annamarie went way above and beyond for Mom and our family.
She was just one of the nurses who took care of Mom. The first time was in August when our son was getting married in Youngstown. Mom was in no shape to see him get married. Annamarie ended up FaceTiming with my brother-in-law so that our son's Granny could see and talk to the newlyweds at the reception. That was above and beyond, but she did something else that made her even more of an angel in our family. Mom was put into hospice and the day before she was leaving, Sunday, Annamarie said that she had a surprise for us. She wasn't Mom's nurse that day but wanted to do this surprise. Annamarie came into Mom's hospital room with a guitar. Annamarie asked mom if she knew the song "Goodnight I." Mom nodded. Annamarie sat down, played, and sung that song to Mom. It was so beautiful. The staff knew she was going to do this and everyone was peeking in. There wasn't a dry eye throughout. Mom loved it and watched so intently. We have it on video.
We had a little get together to honor mom and invited Annamarie to come. Thankfully she and her fiancé came and stayed awhile. It made Saturday complete. In a world where you hear more bad news, it's so nice to hear about an earth angel who truly loves people. We hope you will consider recognizing this beautiful person and spread the word.
