She was kind and gentle and never felt rushed. I felt heard and valued.
Anne Macariola was an absolute light during my difficult delivery. It was my first baby, and I came in intending to deliver naturally and without an epidural; fast forward 30+ hours, and Anne was wheeling me into an emergent C-section. But let me tell you, she did everything she could to give me the delivery I had hoped for. She helped me into every position we could possibly try. She supported me through every contraction. She made sure that I knew that there were options and was well-informed about my care. She made sure my baby was not compromised and was always quick to respond to any alarm or call. She was real with me when I needed it to help us make the best decision possible for myself and our son. She also did an amazing job involving both my husband and me in the decision-making process, which was important to us. She was kind and gentle and never felt rushed. I felt heard and valued. When a rapid response was called for myself and my baby, I felt no fear because I knew I was in capable hands and Ann had everything under control. When the time came to get an epidural, the part I was most worried about, she was right there with me, holding my hand and talking me through the whole process. She made sure I knew what was coming and what would happen afterward. She even let me move around in the bed as much as I could once the epidural was on and continued to let me be an active part of my care. My biggest concern going into the C-section was that it wasn't going to happen in time for Ann to see the baby. She worked so hard to deliver safely, but don't worry, we got him out just in time, and she got to be there with us. I am so grateful that we had her for a full 12 hours.
