Annmarie provided exceptional care for a patient as well as their family who was critically ill in the NIICU, as she often had this patient covered when working. Once it was decided that the family was going to redirect care with a compassionate extubation after 10 months of hospitalization, Annmarie switched her schedule to ensure she would be working the day the family decided to withdraw to provide support and comfort for this family during a devastating time. She consistently did an exceptional job in communicating concerns to the team, brainstorming unconventional ways of supporting the mom's ability to hold the baby during their final days, advocating for the family, and supporting the mom specifically during the final few weeks of the child's life. She beautifully demonstrated the compassion and care that CHOP advocates for with their iCARE values.
