Annette modeled the use of compassion and professional excellence in the care of my elderly grandmother during her hospital stay admission. In first meeting her, my family and I felt a sense of true caring and kindness that assisted in decreasing the anxiety that is involved with having a loved one sick and taken out of the comforts of home. Within the first hour of her shift, Annette had clarified and provided us with assurance that the order representing my grandmother's wishes to be a DNR was reflected in her hospital chart. Through persistence and understanding of the importance of honoring her patient's wishes, she demonstrated her use of clinical excellence in providing honest, compassionate, and empathetic nursing care. Her holistically prudent and positive nature seemed infectious and our family was honored to have her as our nurse.
