I felt so safe under her care, knowing she was there to sincerely help me recover
I'm an 86-year-old woman who was a patient in room 5114 at Blanchard Valley Hospital for six days. I was fortunate enough to have Annette Elliott as my nurse for all of those day shifts. Each day, she came into my room with a smile and encouragement for what I was dealing with (high calcium and vitamin D). It was a long process to get my levels down, and she played a very big part in my recovery. She explained everything to me about the medicine she was giving me, changes being made in my meds, as well as having a listening ear to any questions or needs I had. I felt so safe under her care, knowing she was there to sincerely help me recover and not there for a paycheck. Her goal in life is to help people, and I really could feel that was why she's a nurse: to help her patients. I was given so many bags through my IV to flush my system out or something I was low in. The IV was our challenge, as Annette had to get the right combination of fluids to keep it from being painful. She was always up to the challenge with a smile or a twinkle in her eyes. She cares with her heart and soul. It's hard for me to put into words the comfort and peace she brought to my heart through her caring spirit, but I know she deserves recognition.
