With that said, I was tempted many times to give up and quit chemo because it makes you feel awful. Annie wouldn't hear of it! She reminded me what the chemo was doing for my body and would patiently explain to me (again and again) the many reasons that I needed to stick with it.
Annie Loughlin will forever be in my heart. After learning that I had to complete 16 rounds of chemotherapy, I thought my life was over. I was terrified. Then I met Annie. She was my "chemo nurse" and on that first visit, I could barely walk in the infusion lab with tears streaming down my face. She immediately put my fears at ease and talked me through everything that I was feeling and about to go through. She didn't rush me or act irritated and believe me she could have because I had a million questions. She was genuinely concerned about my feelings and answered every single question kindly and professionally.

Her knowledge in the oncology field is impressive, and she has taught me so much. I believe that knowledge is power and she gave me the power to get through 16 rounds of chemo like a champ. She was my nurse through every chemo appointment and got me through some really rough weeks. I honestly could not have faced going into the infusion lab to have an uncaring or thoughtless nurse treat me. I would have stopped treatments! With that said, I was tempted many times to give up and quit chemo because it makes you feel awful. Annie wouldn't hear of it! She reminded me what the chemo was doing for my body and would patiently explain to me (again and again) the many reasons that I needed to stick with it. She was always so positive and made me laugh every single time I went for a treatment. I always left with a smile on my face and a big hug from her. She is seriously an angel from above. I know for a fact that I wouldn't have done so well without her.

I still have to receive immunotherapy infusions and Annie is still by my side, being the amazing person that she is! As strange as it sounds, I will literally miss the infusion lab and our time together once my treatment is completed. My family and I will always love, respect, and care for Annie. She got us through some really dark times, and we will always be grateful for that! I pray that every patient will have an Annie in their lives. I would also like to note that I have met many of the nurses in my last seven months at the infusion lab, and they all make up a fabulous team! They were all kind and willing to help out in any way possible. The infusion lab is staffed with wonderful nurses, front desk ladies, and volunteers. I couldn't have had a better experience during the scariest time of my life! Thank you BMH for staffing such a wonderful infusion lab.
