Tony went to the Home Depot and bought cinder blocks. He then went to the family's house and put the bed on the cinder blocks to help elevate the bed to help the patient's mom care for the patient.
This story nearly brought me to tears. Our nurse, Tony Adkins, cared for a patient with spinal fusion. The patient's mother is having difficulty caring for the patient as the patient's bed is on the floor as the patient's mother could not afford bed frames. Given the patient's post-operative needs, the patient's mother was having difficulty getting down to the patient when he was lying in bed. Tony spoke to the patient's mother and after this discussion, Tony wanted to help. after his shift, Tony went to the Home Depot and bought cinder blocks. He then went to the family's house and put the bed on the cinder blocks to help elevate the bed to help the patient's mom care for the patient.
This demonstrates how much Tony cared about not only this patient but his family. He went above and beyond to address a problem to help both the patient and his mother. I am so proud of this selfless act. We need more of this in the world!
