From Patient:
April what a great nurse you are. I would like to thank you so much for going beyond the call of duty during my unpleasant experience on 11/17/11. You made everything better and you stayed with it till your shift was done. Even the next day you weren’t my nurse, but you took the time to check to see how my day was going and if they got my test done. Take a bow, you are a great nurse.
From Team Leader:
April was instrumental in ensuring that two of 6 South’s long term patients were discharged flawlessly. Both of these patients were very complicated discharges and had to be handled carefully due to their complexities and intense family dynamics. One patient in particular spent months in the ICU and transferred to 6 South. Needless to say the patient had been through a tremendous amount of physical and emotional turmoil during her stay and had no choice other than to depend on us for almost every need. April knew that after spending so much time in our hospital these patients had come to trust us and leaving would cause anxiety for them. April was able to make the patients feel at ease with their transition. She made sure that the patients and their families understood their instructions and what to expect after discharge. She spent a lot of time communicating with not only the families and patients, but also providing the accepting facility with all the details needed to continue ensuring that these patients had a smooth transition. April went above and beyond all expectations as she does so often for her patients.
