When I came in, I was on the brink of suicide. Speaking with April brought such a peace of mind and calmness about me. Her therapeutic communication skills were superb. She is honestly a big part of my success during my stay. She was an advocate for me the first night I was there, calling the doctor to ask for something for my anxiety. Not only does she possess great communication skills, but she is also tentative to her patients. She takes time to introduce herself and let you know that she will be caring for you.
Most of all she listens. April shows how much she cares about what you are saying. She made me feel like I mattered; like I was important. I hope somehow this message can be relayed to her, as a token of appreciation and as a deep, sincere thank you. It is because of nurses like April with such outstanding care and compassion that patients such as me get a second chance at life.
