There is no way I could pick just one story about April to nominate her for the Daisy Award. I have worked with her for over a year now and she is by far the best nurse I have ever worked with. April always makes a special connection with her patients and their family members, no matter how nice or snotty the patient or family is. April goes above and beyond to make sure her patients are taken care of in the best way possible. I have never seen her talk down to a patient, be mean or hateful, talk behind their back or get huffy after having a hard night. April has such a wonderful attitude towards work, she is extremely professional and you can tell just by the way she talks to her patients You can tell that she really has a passion for what she does. Her personality is amazing and her smile can light up a room from a mile away. When I was having personal difficulties she was there to make sure I was okay. When I was having family problems, she talked through them with me. When I had guy problems, she listened to what I had to fuss about and never judged me.
I guess I lied about not having a story, my first night here at SJE during my 2 week orientation; we had an issue with a lady bleeding out from a pelvic abscess. April was in charge that night and she definitely took charge when it came to making sure that this patient was being taken care of in the proper manner. She was extremely professional and caring while trying to stop the bleeding on this patients abscess. I have seen April get so far behind on her work, from talking to a crying patient and comforting them that she had to stay over to finish her charting.
April is so cheerful and full of life and I envy that so much. I love watching her smile and laugh, her laugh is just so warm and joyful. I would love to work with April Hamilton every night that I am here but that’s very selfish and unrealistic. She is such a beautiful, amazing person and nurse that she deserves to be shown recognition. I want April to know how much she is appreciated and well-thought of.
