April Johnson worked tirelessly to locate that new prescription for us
I am sorry it has taken me several months to get this turned in. It has been a rough summer trying to solve our son’s seizure problem. Recently, we have finally had a month of peace without seizures, and I finally found the time to get this written up and sent to you.
In April, our son A had an awful Gran Mal seizure. We called the ambulance and went to the NWTH ER. Later that night, we left the emergency room with a prescription for a seizure rescue nose spray, Nayzilam.
That night, we discovered that there were no longer 24 hour drug stores open in Amarillo so we were not able to fill his rescue medication. First thing Saturday morning, I started trying to fill the prescription, which had been sent over to United Pharmacy on 45th. That Pharmacy did not have the rescue nose spray and informed us that getting it would take several days to get shipped in AND the prescription could not be transferred to another location because it was a class of medication that was not transferrable.
I called drug store after drug store and was not able to even locate a pharmacy that had that rescue medication.
Deeply frustrated and not able to solve the problem, I returned to Northwest Emergency Room. I was blessed to have April Johnson and her coworker as the employees who were working the ER desk that morning. Because the drug was not available at the pharmacy in Amarillo, we had to change the rescue medication prescription to Diazapan. But, our ER doctor was off duty and sleeping and he was the only doctor that could write the new prescription.
April Johnson worked tirelessly to locate that new prescription for us which was finally located at the CVS on 34th. It took hours, but we were finally able to get the new prescription from the doctor and pick up the rescue medication.
We deeply appreciate how April Johnson never gave up and kept trying to help us solve the problem even though it took hours of her time and ours to find a solution. April was compassionate, supportive, understanding and worked tirelessly to try and help us and our son. I believe!
