My wife and I came in to have our baby, and April was our daytime nurse who helped us through all of the labor. My wife had a horrible experience when we had our first baby (at a different hospital). My wife was absolutely dreading giving birth to our second child and had many sleepless nights just thinking about it.
From the first time she walked into our room, we knew she was experienced and confident in what she was doing. She was the best possible advocate for my wife and was incredibly attentive to my wife and all her needs. She was extremely knowledgeable, kept the environment as calm as it could have been, and knew just the right things to say to my wife to keep her in a good mental state. I'm not the best at talking my wife though times of difficulty, and since only one visitor was allowed in the room due to coronavirus, my wife's mom wasn't able to be in there to help talk to her or coach her. April took on that coaching role perfectly, and she answered every question we had with tact. We truly couldn't dream of having a better nurse during our experience. It really is difficult to put into words how much of a difference she made for my wife in what is obviously a painful, scary experience for women.
April is truly amazing at what she does, and St. Alexius is very lucky to have her. I think it's also worth saying that my wife is a nurse, and we all know that a nurse as a patient can be rather hard to impress.
