Arianna's great assessment skills are worthy of recognition. There was a patient that arrived from another unit. Patient had been hospitalized for 2-3 days yet no one know exactly where the patient's infection was coming from. Upon arrival to our unit Arianna assessed the patient. She completed her head to toe assessment and wanted to see the patient's feet. The patient did not want the nurse to look at his feet. Finally, the patient agreed to have his socks removed. Upon removing the socks, the nurse was able to see that some of the digits on the patient's right foot were black and draining. The patient confessed that he had this injury for almost 2 weeks and had not mentioned it for fear of having his foot amputated. The patient was treated and even though he had to have an I&D, he was able to be treated and discharged.
