I had to place a PICC line on a 92-year-old female in Oncology. As I entered the room and explained the process of a PICC line to the patient, she got really emotional and said she was scared. Her primary RN, Asalia, got down on her knees and eye level to the patient to say some comforting words to the patient. The patient asked her to pray with her so the nurse and the patient said a quick prayer and the patient kissed Asalia on the cheek. After Asalia left the room, the patient proceeded to tell me how compassionate and kind Asalia is. She said that Asalia paid attention to details and gave her such exceptional care. She said she felt safe and loved because of the care Asalia has given her the last three days. It was a beautiful moment to witness.
