I was admitted to the hospital originally for observation due to bilateral multifocal pneumonia. After being here a few days I kept getting worse. Drs. were trying to test for everything, it came to light that I also had an autoimmune-compromised system, which resulted in my health deteriorating rapidly. Throughout my time under Ashlee's care, she demonstrated not only genuine care, love, and compassion for me, but also to an extraordinary level that surpasses what I can put into words. Even when a further diagnosis came to light, she showed her true colors in being one in a billion nurses. Examples of this are her continued concerned updates when she saw my wife in the cafeteria, and would ask how I was. After being transferred to the ICU, she would come on her limited free time and find me to check in. Once I was extubated from my ventilator, she came into the room to see me, and I was able to tell her how much her care truly impacted me. In my darkest hours, she truly made me feel seen. She listened to all of my requests. Cared for me as a person and felt as though I was family. I can't think of a greater candidate for your highest nursing award.
