A family brought a patient to the main entrance of the hospital for a scheduled clinic appointment. As the valet staff and other non-clinical approached the vehicle, they noticed that the patient appeared unresponsive. The non-clinical staff immediately called for assistance. Fortunately, Ashley Edler was walking out of the TRMC main entrance at the time. It is unclear if she had come responding to a request for assistance or if she merely happened to be in the right place at the right time.
Regardless, she was on the scene quickly and immediately assessed the patient and began chest compressions until the EMS arrived. This was outside her general scope of duties and clearly not in the hospital building, but she remained composed and provided needed support to the patient.
