In the ED, Ashley sets the bar for clinical and compassionate care in the Emergency department. She wants to encourage clinical excellence from the staff through education, coaching and mentoring to the standards of care. Ashley is evidence-based driven, and when appropriate, she provides links to various peer-reviewed articles or pieces of literature to help drive home her communication. 

Ashley loves data! She uses data as a way of telling our story but also understands that each data point is a human being. Ashley wants to get to a place where she can instill the drive for perfect care by modeling the behaviors she is asking from the staff. She has created a warm and welcoming environment in her office to help staff feel more at ease when coming to confide in her. Many staff trust Ashley with personal struggles, for which she supports them the best she can. 

Ashley is incredibly smart, has just finished her MSN/MBA and has her sights on additional accolades as she understands as a nurse, we must always be learning and growing. 

Ashley is a supportive peer to her fellow managers through having open conversations when the group is problem-solving; she offers alternative viewpoints and is respectful and accepting when teammates' viewpoints are different from hers. She holds herself to high standards and wants to get everything done to perfection because she never takes for granted that her decisions and actions could impact a patient's life. 

Ashley is instrumental in moving the bar for EKG compliance from the mid-80th percentile to now consistently in the mid-90th. She has also helped to improve our blood culture contamination rates through coaching, mentoring and educating nurses when they have a contamination. Ashley is fair and consistent, which provides safety for staff as they know her decisions and actions will follow suit. 

Ashley leads with her brain and her heart, which is why she has demonstrated excellence in nursing leadership.
