During my stay Ashley was completely on her game and engaged in her job as my nurse at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center.
Integrity: She maintains the trust and confidence of all she engages. During my stay I was impressed by her nursing abilities. She has the qualities of a very seasoned and experienced nurse which seemed impossible to fit into someone who was still young. My wife is a nurse (at a civilian facility) also observed Ashley and commented on her abilities.
Commitment: She serves Veterans and families by honoring the VA's mission:
"To care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan."
- Abraham Lincoln
Advocacy: She truly focuses on serving the Veteran. I personally thanked Ashley for her care and personal attention. I told her that she had a gift that was unique to serving Veterans. That Veterans, especially ones that have served in combat or harm's way tend to sort people into ones that are safe, and ones that are not. This is big for Veterans. We come here sick, hurting, and have a hypersensitivity of those around us. She was always in my inner circle of trust, as I am sure she is with other Veterans.
Respect: She provided dignity and respect to everyone she served and encountered. Ashley never talked down to or up to anyone. She always provided information, many times "thinking aloud" and made sure information was understood in a friendly and warm way.
Excellence: She was always striving for the highest quality, and if there were any areas of improvement she was on top of that so much so I could not see any areas of improvement. Many times I was expecting delays during busy times and she would always "check in" before I would even start to wonder what was going on or if I should call.
I feel that the nursing profession to some is a calling. I think it is Ashley Lannoch's calling. Thank you for your care Ashley.
