Her unconditional emotional and physical support made the experience much less frightening, and I believe she is the reason he is doing much better today.
To say that Ashlynn Baker is a good nurse is an understatement. My diabetic husband came to the ER for depression and high blood sugar. Everyone seemed only to ask the needed questions and leave. Ashlynn listened to him and his story, actively digging and hoping to get him some relief. Above all, she treated my husband and me like family as opposed to just another patient, which is rare to find these days. She was there every time he needed her, never complaining, and always explained what she was doing thoroughly. He had gotten so worried because he was being transferred to another facility; we had never experienced that before. While Ashlynn was standing there, my husband said, “I just get so tired of dealing with diabetes; I just want to give up.” Ashlynn immediately grabbed his hand, sat down, and said “You are so strong, I am a diabetic also and too often I want to quit. And it’s okay for us to “not want to diabetic today”, but it’s not okay to let our health to be risked, we’re too precious for that,” while wiping her tears and his. It was such a heartfelt moment that even my husband had not shared with me before. He was broken inside, and Ashlynn was who he trusted enough to be vulnerable with. Her unconditional emotional and physical support made the experience much less frightening, and I believe she is the reason he is doing much better today. Ashlynn was truly a Godsend, and we could not have asked for a better young woman.
