She was compassionate the entire time, and you could see how talented she was as a nurse in how detailed her care was for both my friend and those who surrounded her.
Audrey Lullo cared for my friend. Over the course of two days, Audrey provided an exceptional level of medical care for my friend who was on so many machines and taking so many medications to stabilize her. My friend had survived a liver transplant 18 months earlier, and we all believed that she had overcome her most challenging obstacle in life. Still, while at Condell, we realized that my friend was again facing death, only this time, it was from the flu and all of its complications. Audrey never stopped moving and working to keep my friend both comfortable and alive. Audrey was both patient and informative while caring for my friend and fielding non-stop questions from worried family members and friends. Audrey kept us continually up to date on my friend's condition while remaining both positive and realistic. She was compassionate the entire time, and you could see how talented she was as a nurse in how detailed her care was for both my friend and those who surrounded her. As my friend's health continued to spiral downward, Audrey made us all feel safe and secure in a situation that we all knew would end badly. My friend's daughter got married by her bedside, and multiple priests came to pray with everyone. Audrey continued her care for my friend while respecting all that was going on around my friend's bedside. Audrey's dedication to my friend kept her alive so that all 4 of my friend's kids, her 2 siblings, and her close friends could say goodbye. Audrey listened to the kids and helped guide them when they asked questions about taking my friend off the life support machines. Audrey's attention to the physical and emotional well-being of my friend, her kids, her siblings, and her friends was remarkable and something I'd never seen before. My friend passed away, and I believe Audrey stayed past her shift to help us all give my friend a dignified goodbye. I will remember Audrey forever, as will everyone in ICU. I hope Audrey knows what an incredible nurse she is and how she has made a difference in many people's lives.
