He worked really hard to make my dad comfortable and treated him and us with so much respect.
Austin was one of the only lights during a really dark time for me and my family. I can't think of just one scenario where he made a meaningful difference with us - he was consistent in his exceptional care each day that he was assigned to us (and even checked in on the days he was not). I am so grateful for the days that he took care of my dad in the CTICU. He worked really hard to make my dad comfortable and treated him and us with so much respect. He was patient and really helped us communicate with my dad when he couldn't speak, and made us feel like a part of his care team as we celebrated small wins together. He took the time to come up with ideas on how to help him improve. He spent time supporting us as a family, and listening to our concerns, thoughts, and fears. Even though my dad did not make it, I will forever appreciate Austin's kindness and expertise.
