Bailey brought him new, clean clothes to wear for when he got to go home. She also checked on him each day she was working.
Bailey was caring for a patient in the ICU who was from Iowa. He was a truck driver and had medical issues on the road that led him to Arkansas. He ended up at our facility to have open heart surgery. Not only was this patient away from home, family, and friends, but he was Bulgarian and spoke little English. He did not understand medical terms at all. He did thankfully have a phone with him, but did not have a charger or clothes. Bailey bought him a phone charger. This helped in his care tremendously as it was an encouragement to him to be able to talk to his family and friends. He stayed on the phone constantly. Anticipating his discharge and afraid she wouldn't be here when the patient went home, Bailey brought him new, clean clothes to wear for when he got to go home. She also checked on him each day she was working. I know Bailey made a huge impact and difference in the care of this patient, and if he could, he would recognize her himself. I know her care for him made a difference in his attitude and outcome, as well as positively impacted my life and the care I provide patients. I wish every patient could have a nurse like Bailey.
