This past summer I was a summer nurse extern on the ambulatory surgery unit and Barb was my preceptor for 8 weeks. The care she provides touches the lives of many patients. She is able to calm and relax the patient before surgery and relate to them in many ways. Her bedside manner is a quality that I look up to the most. Barb is the reason that I applied for a position in this unit. I admire her knowledge and skills during her 36 years of nursing! I am so thankful to have been able to learn from her, and now I am able to work alongside her!!

I had my first procedure ever recently. I was extremely anxious about being put under, but Barb made sure to make me feel as comfortable as I could be. She talked me through her first experience being put under, which made me feel more at ease. Barb and the other nurses walked me through everything they were doing and why they were doing it. Barb really made me feel at home by connecting with me on personal matters. My experience being put under wasn’t nearly as scary as I thought it would be, thanks to Barb. She even gave me a call the day after my procedure just to make sure I was feeling all right. I couldn’t thank her enough for all the reassurance she gave me and for turning this into a positive experience for me. She went above and beyond my expectations. Thank you!

Barb has been wonderful. She knows you’re scared and on edge. So she gets you laughing. But she is business. She keeps things rolling to get you ready for surgery. Lots of questions. She is always upbeat and ready to get things done. She is a keeper.
