Bekah saw my distress and jumped in to help.
My former husband became suddenly and critically ill. He was receiving care in the cardiac unit, and one of his wonderful nurses was Bekah Hargrave. Facing major surgery, we realized he needed a will asap. F had specific wishes regarding his estate and was very concerned about trouble from a specific family member.

I got a will drawn up, but how to get it notarized and witnessed in time? Bekah saw my distress and jumped in to help. She directed me to the hospital’s spiritual care department. While I worked on getting a notary, the chaplain worked on finding witnesses, and Bekah, unknown to me, arranged for a doctor to come examine F. He was examined to make sure he was of sound mind to sign legal documents. This was put in his medical record. This one simple, but critical act meant the world to me, my family, and to F. He did not survive his surgery, but going into it, I saw his peace of mind knowing we had done all we could and everything was in place.

After F’s passing, the one family member he was worried about, just as predicted, tried to create trouble. He said that if F was that sick, he couldn't have been in his right mind and that the will was invalid. Because of Bekah’s foresight, I was able to reply with “Oh yes, he was! His nurse had him examined by the doctor to make sure of it!” It stopped a lawsuit right in its tracks and, more importantly, F’s wishes have been upheld.

Bekah could not have known what that one “little” act in her long day would mean. I wanted her to know it meant the world to me and F. We miss him terribly, but I am so glad people like Bekah are still out there giving that little bit more to people in crisis. Bekah – you made a huge difference in our lives. Thank you.
