Bella was nominated by a co-worker in our Critical Care unit. She is a newer nurse, and Bella is always willing to help her coworkers, takes time with her patients, and shows so much compassion. She easily develops bonds and rapport with both her patients and their families. Although Bella is always doing kind things for her patients, this week, something stood out more. There were sounds of crying in the hallway. When I rounded the corner to see what was going on, there was Bella sitting on the floor with a family member whose mother had just passed away. Bella was sitting on this family member's level, applying a cool wash cloth and comforting the family member who was having a panic attack. Bella just sat with her and consoled her to the best of her ability. Then, to find out, this wasn't even Bella's patient's family member; Bella had her own patients and took the time to sit with a complete stranger who was having a rough day. Bella even went to check on this family member who was alone in the ED during her free time. She just goes above and beyond for everyone she meets.
