My dad has had PTSD with hospital settings. After having Ben, my dad was so at ease being here and understood he had someone looking out for him.
I'm the daughter of this patient and have been dealing with doctors/hospital settings pretty frequently for the last 14 years because of my child with Spina Bifida Myelomeningocele. In hospitals, you start to just feel like a number instead of a human. This is felt by myself as a patient or as a family member advocating for their loved one.
Ben officially turned that tide here for me in Kootenai Hospital. My dad came into their care and the nurse made it possible for me to be there for my dad. Once he was admitted into the hospital, we had Ben for the first and second night. He was so kind to both of us and his visitors. Answered any questions, brought up things to be aware of BEFORE they became an issue. He was so patient with my dad and has truly brought back the meaning of being just a genuine good nurse. I wish every nurse was like Ben. He was professional but so kind during a scary time for us all. My dad has had PTSD with hospital settings. I'm not sure if Ben is aware of how he presents himself or comes off to others, but he deserves to be recognized and told that he is amazing, dedicated and you can feel that he's truly genuine about everything he puts in front of him. He set that bar for us and I hope others can follow.
