MY NURSE BETH BECKETT, is exactly how I think of her, not because I’m selfish it’s because it makes ME feel better knowing she is there.
Five years ago I was sent to Princeton Hospital’s Infusion Room by my doctor. At the lab Beth had the records of my physical condition; she had no clue to my state of mind. My husband had been a cancer patient at Sloan Kettering in NYC and as his caregiver, I had spent many hours with him in S.K.’s infusion room. This day, I found myself devastated reliving my days with him at Sloan. Beth knew nothing of this, yet she and her crew of nurses welcomed me with open arms as if I were the most precious patient there, even as they ministered to the most truly needy patients.
Beth’s nursing skills include gentleness and exceptional knowledge of I.V. procedures. Her concern for my welfare in other aspects of life and health are filled with compassion and love.
Nurse Beth Beckett is the Assistant Nurse Manager of the Outpatient Infusion Room. She and her crew, after years of planning successfully transferred their entire operation from Princeton Hospital to the new hospital in Plainsboro. Her duties are too vast to write about but I must mention the many hours of meeting and classes to keep up with all the newly developing technologies which in the long run affect my good chances of living a productive life in my battle with R.A.
I feel that my five plus year journey with Beth and its significant impact on my life make her eligible for the DAISY Award. There are not many patients who can speak for their nurse on a long-time basis as I can testify for MY NURSE BETH BECKETT. How lucky am I?
